We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Structural Foreman

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Jov Description

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and approved schedules.
  • The ideal candidate will provide direct leadership to structural crews, ensuring high levels of productivity, quality workmanship, and strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements across all site activities.
  • We are seeking an experienced Structural Foreman to supervise and coordinate structural construction and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities
Construction Supervision:

  • Lead structural crews engaged in steel structures, pipe racks, platforms, walkways, stairways, handrails, supports, bridges, and equipment foundations.
  • Ensure work is executed in accordance with approved IFC drawings, method statements, specifications, and construction procedures.
  • Supervise daily structural fabrication, erection, installation, modification, and maintenance activities.
  • Monitor daily work progress and resolve site execution issues promptly.
  • Allocate manpower, tools, materials, and equipment to achieve planned work targets.

Structural Installation & Fabrication:

  • Monitor structural preservation and protection during construction.
  • Verify structural dimensions, elevations, alignment, and tolerances before final installation.
  • Ensure proper installation of structural members, gratings, ladders, platforms, and support systems.
  • Coordinate field modifications in consultation with Engineering and QA/QC.
  • Supervise fabrication, fit-up, alignment, bolting, welding, lifting, and erection activities.

Work Planning & Coordination:

  • Coordinate activities with Mechanical, Piping, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Scaffolding teams.
  • Identify and report construction constraints that may impact project schedules.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials, consumables, lifting equipment, and tools.
  • Review work packs, drawings, lifting plans, and construction schedules before execution.

Quality Assurance & Control:

  • Rectify identified defects and ensure quality records are maintained.
  • Ensure all structural works comply with approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), project specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Verify that weld inspections, bolt torque checks, dimensional inspections, and material traceability requirements are completed.
  • Coordinate inspections with QA/QC personnel and client representatives.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):

  • Stop unsafe work and immediately report hazards, incidents, and near misses.
  • Enforce safe practices for lifting operations, working at height, hot work, confined space entry, and use of powered tools.
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks and pre-task safety briefings.
  • Monitor housekeeping standards and proper use of PPE.
  • Ensure compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements and safe work procedures.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise structural fitters, fabricators, welders, riggers, helpers, and subcontractors.
  • Coach and mentor junior personnel to improve skills and workmanship.
  • Promote teamwork, discipline, and compliance with company policies.
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor workforce productivity.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Assist in work completion, punch-list closure, and handover documentation.
  • Record material usage, equipment utilization, and productivity data.
  • Prepare daily progress reports, manpower utilization reports, and work completion records.
  • Report delays, quality issues, safety observations, and resource requirements to the Construction Superintendent.

Qualifications

  • Formal supervisory training is an advantage.
  • OND, Trade Test, City & Guilds, or Technical Certificate in Structural Steel Fabrication, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Relevant trade certifications in structural steel fabrication or erection are desirable.

Experience:

  • Offshore construction experience is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
  • Minimum of 7 years of structural construction experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, power, marine, or heavy industrial projects.
  • Experience in structural steel fabrication, erection, brownfield modifications, shutdowns, or EPC/EPCM projects.
